The 2001 opening of the Jordan Center was perfect timing for the Hill family. Gaye and Rick Hill were looking for new childcare for their oldest daughter, Naomi, then 2, when they scheduled a tour. The environment—“enriching, nurturing and loving”—was a great fit for their daughter, Gaye says, and they enrolled right away.

In the decade since, the Jordan Center has been a great fit for all three of the Hills’ children. Noami, now 12, was followed by Sophie, 9, and Drew, 4. When Drew goes to kindergarten next fall, it will be the first time in 11 years that the family hasn’t had a child there.

“The kids consider the Jordan Center an extension of our home,” Gaye says.

With its emphasis on education and diversity, the center “has provided the groundwork for my kids’ love of learning,” Gaye says. “Among their lessons has been an appreciation for each other’s differences. We live in a diverse society and, at the Jordan Center, children are encouraged to embrace that.”
